About Reading Revival
The Reading Revival: It’s a Movement, is a year-long initiative focused on building literacy through everyday moments at The Center. Across our after-school classrooms, youth leadership initiatives like D.R.E.A.M. Teens, and literacy-focused community events, reading becomes a tool for confidence, curiosity, critical thinking, and connection.
This effort brings students, families, staff, and the community together to share stories, strengthen skills, and celebrate learning in meaningful ways.
Reading for All Ages
This month, The Center’s Reading Revival shares stories of family, identity, history, and community for readers of all ages. Younger readers can enjoy The Penderwicks in Spring by Jeanne Birdsall and The First Rule of Punk by Celia C. Pérez. Teens can explore The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros and Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. For adults, this month’s selections include The Night Watchman by Louise Erdrich and The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride.
